The 1891 Scotlland Census shows Donald was at Bank St Thurso, Caithness. He was the head of the household, age 68, occupation dyke builder. Also in the household was his sister Elizabeth age 77.
His death certificate shows he was a dyke builder and was single. His parents were John Meiklejohn, farmer, deceased, and Jane Robertson, deceased. He died from bronchitis, 10 days, enlarged prostate, uncertain, sore throat a week. The informant was Dond Bain, nephew.
As he was single, Donald Bain would be his sister's child.
