The passing of Mrs. Emma Martha i
Oliver removes fromjour midst one
who could ill be spared. The deceased
was born in New Zealand and also
married thertt and came vi-ith her late
?husband 21. years ago to North
i Queensland. They were some of the
first settlers on a block of land in .the
rPeeramon district. Mrs. Oliver's hus-
band predeceased her some 13 years
ago. at Atherton. The late Mrs.
! Oliver came to reside in Mareeba
about six years ago, and was of a lov-
ing and charitable nature, which en-
deared her to alL She was an artist
of no small merit and all charitable
-. functions benefited greatly her her gen
erous donations of beautiful paintings,
.v A keen church-worker, always to the
fore, she will be greatly missed in the
.church she loved so welL The deceased
! leaves three sons-Eric (Mt Molloy),
j George (Mackay), Alfred (Mareeba)
! and her aged mother," Mrs. Dew, who
: always lived with her, to mourn their
irreparable loss. The late Mrs.
j Oliver had been an inmate of Ma
eeba District Hospital for the past
. three months, and at the last had ex-
pressed' a wish that she be removed to
j her own .home. This wish was carried
! out and she passed away at her resid
' euee it! Walsh-street on Friday night,
j The funeral moved from her late resid
I ence on Saturday and was largely at
1 tended. The Rev. Carter held an im
.? pressure service at the house and con-
ducted the last sad rites at the grave-
